Article editing and publication stages

It is the responsibility of each of the authors to take into account and comply with the following aspects and criteria associated with the work stages involved in the publication of a scientific article in the Revista Geográfica de Chile Terra Australis, according to the following:

1) ARTICLE SUBMISSION:

  • Articles must be submitted and entered into the platform. The journal's editorial team (editors-in-chief) will review whether the manuscript aligns with the editorial line and meets the established requirements, ensuring that it meets the minimum quality standards.
  • The authors’ names must be included in a separate Word document (not in the article manuscript) in order to maintain the double-blind peer review process.
  • The letter of originality, duly signed by all authors, must be uploaded to the platform in PDF format and separately, in a document distinct from both the manuscript and the list of authors.
  • If the article is approved at this stage, it will proceed to the double-blind review process. Otherwise, the author will be notified of its rejection and the impossibility of continuing in the journal's editorial process.

In summary, what will be evaluated in this first stage is:

  1. The article aligns with the journal's editorial line.
  2. The article proposal will be submitted to a plagiarism detection tool and must pass this test.
  3. The content of the article must be novel in relation to previously published topics and meet the minimum standards required by the journal, including the minimum and maximum length requirements.
  4. For each article, all authors must provide their identification information as specified below. This information must be uploaded to the platform in a Word document separate from the article manuscript.
    • First Name and Last Name.
    • Academic Title.
    • Institutional Affiliation.

It is important to note that this information will not be shared with the reviewers (Scientific Committee) of the journal, in compliance with the double-blind peer review process.

The article must adhere to the journal's publication guidelines, following the parameters established in the template.

2) ARTICLE REVIEW

Once the article has been submitted, it will be evaluated using the double-blind peer review method. At this stage, the journal's editorial team will determine its suitability for publication and, if necessary, will issue observations for its improvement.

  • The reviewer will have 14 days to complete the evaluation, counted from the acceptance of the article review.
  • The author will have 10 days  to incorporate the requested corrections and submit the revised version.

3) STYLE CORRECTION:

In this stage, the final stylistic adjustments to the article are made by proofreaders specialized in the subject matter. These corrections will be sent by the Editors-in-Chief to each author for their respective approval.

  • The author will have 10 days to incorporate the requested corrections and submit the revised version.

4) FINAL DECISION

In this stage, each author is informed of the final decision regarding their publication, as well as the volume and issue in which their article will appear, if accepted.

5) FINAL PRODUCT AND PUBLICATION

In this final stage, the Editors-in-Chief will send the authors the final version of the article, including its layout, for their approval. The authors bear sole responsibility for the content—both in form and substance—published in the journal. Once the article has been published, no modifications will be possible.
