The restoration and rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems is crucial today, given the impact of climate change, territorial degradation and the loss of urban biodiversity. This process seeks to recover the ecological, social and heritage functionality of affected areas, promoting natural regeneration or through interventions according to the theory of Urban Acupuncture, emerging as an innovative strategy, focusing on small and localized interventions that revitalize public spaces and encourage community participation. Authors such as Sornoza and Guadamud (2023) have highlighted that these actions not only improve the urban environment, but also address social and environmental problems, connecting segregated areas and increasing their accessibility.
The research is justified by the need to transform deteriorated urban areas, using participatory methodologies that integrate citizens in the process. It has been hypothesized that these interventions can generate a significant positive impact on urban quality of life. The objectives include identifying the components related to territorial heritage and applying specific solutions, achieving results that demonstrate a high correlation between urban acupuncture and regeneration of spaces. The conclusions indicate that these strategies are effective in recovering and promoting sustainable urbanism, improving social and environmental resilience.
